My name is Caitlin Bovard and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Sex Therapist who has experience working with clients with sex/desire or intimacy issues, interpersonal/relationship issues, low self esteem, trauma and those in the LGBTQ+ community. I have a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Therapy from University of Northern Colorado and received my Sex, Couples and Human Trafficking Counseling Certificates from the Colorado Family Institute.
My interest in human sexuality began when I decided to write a sex column in my college’s newspaper. I focused on consent, health and safety while also bringing in humor and research (two of my favorite things). Before long and despite having a pseudonym, people started to seek me out and ask me various questions. Other than things that should have been learned in sex education, what I noticed is most questions boiled down to, “Am I normal?” Cut to a decade later, this question still comes up a lot and I’ve made it my mission to normalize, educate and destigmatize even the tabooiest taboos.
What to expect your first session: Like any relationship, this working relationship will start with us getting to know each other. You will complete an intake form and I will go over your rights as a client. We will also discuss what to expect from counseling and I will happily answer any and all questions or concerns you may have. It is completely normal to be nervous and I believe you’ll find the space we create together will help you relax and go at your own pace.
On a more personal note, I am a pretty stereotypical Colorado gal so when I’m not in my office, you can find me skiing, backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, doing yoga or on an aerial apparatus. I love appreciating and making art (and will happily bring this into counseling if you’re interested). I also have been a bookworm since I first could read.
